November is coming…so September is our month-long WGAW PAC campaign to increase awareness about the PAC and increase recurring donations. Currently, we have dozens of writers making recurring donations, but in a membership of 10,000—dozens won’t cut it. The PAC is only possible if we support it. We need members to step up and make a $10 recurring donation today.
Join us this month in making a $10 recurring donation to the PAC.
Here’s why we give:
“I believe in the importance of political action and I know that my contributions have more power through the PAC than donating to causes on my own.” – Franki Butler
“We are lucky enough to have a union that fights for us in Washington D.C.—but they can't do that without our support. Every voice counts, and I firmly believe that my monthly contribution to our PAC and its causes is a real opportunity to make a difference in federal policy making, at a time when it matters most.” – Kelly Galuska
"I support the PAC because when it comes to policy, writers need to have a seat at the table. To be cynical about the political process is to be impractical." – Alex Tse
USE YOUR VOICE. JOIN THE FIGHT.
A donation to the PAC gives you, gives us, a seat at the table and a voice in government. By contributing to the PAC, you support our fight for more opportunities for writers, better jobs and benefits and the freedom to tell our stories.
Remember that none of our dues money goes to candidate contributions and our PAC is only possible with your voluntary donations. Help us help writers by making a recurring donation now so that we can support the candidates below and more. A little bit, $10 a month, goes a long way if each of us gives.

2018 ENDORSEMENTS
The WGAW Political Action Committee has issued its list of endorsements of federal candidates who support the Guild’s public policy priorities. All candidates seeking support from the PAC are either evaluated based on their record in Congress or complete a questionnaire, reviewed by the PAC Board. These are candidates who, like us, are concerned with preserving an open Internet, fighting media consolidation, promoting independent production, protecting our health and pension plans and strengthening labor rights.

MA - US Senate
- Key champion of net neutrality and writers on the Senate Commerce committee
- In a contentious primary
- We need to keep him in the Senate
Senator Markey has consistently been one of the WGAW’s biggest champions in the Senate. He led the Senate’s support for strong net neutrality rules even before the FCC issued them. Most recently, Senator Markey introduced the Save the Internet Act of 2019, after he led the effort in 2018 to use the Congressional Review Act to void the FCC’s repeal of net neutrality. This surprisingly passed the Senate with critical Republican votes, thanks to Senator Markey’s leadership. He consistently promotes competition in media and has sought scrutiny of mega media mergers. A steadfast supporter of organized labor, Senator Markey is a champion that writers can’t afford to lose.

- Needs to stay in the Senate
The only woman to have served both as governor and U.S. senator and the only woman on the Foreign Relations committee, Jeanne Shaheen is a trailblazer and friend to writers. In a purple state that Trump lost by fewer than 3,000 votes, Shaheen expects this year’s race to be very close and extremely expensive. Shaheen faced former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown in 2014 and narrowly defeated him. During her tenure in the Senate, Shaheen has been a reliable supporter of net neutrality, a cosponsor of the Protecting our Right to Organize Act of 2019, a cosponsor of legislation to repeal the excise tax on healthcare plans and legislation to save multiemployer pension plans.
